Some people would say that rain on your wedding day is good luck, and I think that’s true for these two, even though they didn’t need it. Angela & Vincent are the people that you meet and they stick with you. From the first time we met in person at their engagement session, we hit it off right away and I knew we’d stay in touch after their wedding day.
Upon arriving for their wedding day, friends and family who had spent the night at the venue to start the wedding weekend kickoff, were roaming around the grounds and spending a slow morning together before celebrating the couple. Hasbrouck House is a venue that has accommodations that allows for a wedding weekend experience that so many couples look for these days. Why have just a wedding day when you can have a whole weekend- am I right?!
While the weather was overcast in the morning, a small bit of rain was bound to sweep through the day and right as we prepared for the first look, it started pouring. While some couples would be upset, A + V rolled with it and we switched locations to under the porch of the main house and added in some clear umbrellas. Their first look was sweet and I loved Vin’s big smile when he saw Angela. While we waited for the rain to pass, we utilized the amazing indoor locations of Hasbrouck House with their fab decor (how awesome is the wallpaper). Having a venue with back up options incase of rain is so key. By waiting out the short amount of rain, we were able to have a lot of variety in their portraits by having some indoors and some outdoors. By the time we finished with the portraits, wedding party and family photos, the rain was done for the day and held out for us.
When the ceremony started it was so great to see everyone joining together for A + V. Something that I loved about their ceremony, was their officiant Rev Jim Rooney, had everyone say hello to someone who they have never met before. While they might be strangers, they were tied together by A + V and there was a reason they were all there. It was an awesome moment to look around and see everyone connect (and it made for great photos, thanks Jim!).
After their ceremony, it was time to party and this crowd did not disappoint. A + V kicked off the party with a first dance to a very special song to me, Your Song by Elton John. If I didn’t feel connected to A + V before, I did then. After some special parent dances, the maid of honors and best men had great speeches which happened to include a song written and performed by Angela’s sisters that got the entire crowd cheering for them. You could tell that everyone at A + V’s wedding were special to them. There was so much love and connection and energy- that made for the BEST party many years in the making. I haven’t seen such a packed dance floor in so long. Song after song, the entire crowd was singing along, dancing and celebrating. A + V- you had the best day and I feel so grateful to have met people like you and call you my clients. I am SO lucky!
